Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you use the site. We also use localStorage, a similar browser storage mechanism, to remember your cookie consent choice.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use a minimal number of cookies and storage mechanisms, categorised as follows:

• Essential storage — required for the website to function correctly
• Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use our website (only loaded with your consent)
• Marketing cookies — let us measure our Facebook, Instagram and Google ads (only with your consent, on a site whose cookie settings offer the choice)

3. Essential Storage

These are necessary for our sites and applications to work and cannot be switched off. They include:

• Cookie consent record (localStorage: pweb_cookie_consent) — the categories you allowed, when you chose, and which version of this policy you were shown. We also keep the choices it replaced (pweb_cookie_consent_log), so that if you withdraw consent we can still show that it had been given, as UK GDPR Article 7(1) requires. Neither is shared with anyone and neither leaves your browser. The Evrella console (app.evrella.com) keeps its own record in the same way (localStorage: ema_cookie_consent, with the choices it replaced in ema_cookie_consent_log), because it is a different site and cannot read the one above.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — security token used on our contact form to prevent spam and bot submissions. This is a functional necessity and does not track your browsing behaviour
• Signing in to the Evrella console (app.evrella.com) — the session cookies that keep you signed in, and a cookie recording which region serves your account (ema_region). Without these you cannot stay signed in.
• Your chosen language and display preferences, stored in your browser so a page does not forget them between visits.
• Evrella, the assistant, on our own sites — nothing at all unless you open the chat window. What she keeps once you do, and for how long, is in section 7 below: it is the same assistant, with the same two items, wherever you meet her.
• Referral code (sessionStorage: ema.signup.referral) — on the Evrella console’s sign-up page (app.evrella.com), only when you opened a sign-up link that carries a referral code. It keeps the code until your account is made or you close the tab, so that the person who referred your business is credited and the link’s discount is applied (see the Privacy Notice, section 2.8). It never leaves your browser except with your sign-up.

4. Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our websites, puglieseweb.com and evrella.com (each has its own Google Analytics property), and on evrella.com also Microsoft Clarity. Both are only loaded after you explicitly accept analytics cookies via that site's consent banner, and we never use them for advertising.

• Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) — measures page views, session duration, and referral sources. IP anonymisation is enabled, meaning your full IP address is never stored by Google
• We track anonymised events such as outbound link clicks and CTA interactions to improve our website
• Microsoft Clarity, on evrella.com only (_clck, kept for 12 months; _clsk, kept for 1 day; and Microsoft’s own MUID cookie on clarity.ms and bing.com, kept for 12 months) — records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement as session recordings and heatmaps, so we can see where a page confuses people. The Evrella chat is masked: no conversation appears in a recording.

Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd receives what Clarity collects: the pages you visit, how you interact with them, your device and browser, and your IP address. We keep recordings for 30 days and heatmaps for 13 months. Microsoft may also use the data to improve its own products and for Microsoft Advertising, and may transfer it to the United States, relying on its certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension; see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

5. Marketing Cookies

On a site whose cookie settings offer a “Marketing” choice, we use Meta’s pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show them to people who have visited the site. On evrella.com, and on the sign-up page of the Evrella console (app.evrella.com), we also use Google Ads’ conversion tracking to measure our Google ads; on that sign-up page both count a completed free-trial sign-up, and the console loads neither on any other page. Both are loaded through Google Tag Manager, and only after you allow “Marketing” (in the console, “Advertising measurement”), by clicking “Accept” or by switching it on in the cookie settings. Google Tag Manager itself sets no cookies.

• _fbp (Meta) — identifies your browser to Meta’s pixel, so that visits and the results of our ads can be counted. Kept for 3 months.
• _fbc (Meta) — records the ad you clicked to reach us. Set only when you arrive from a Facebook or Instagram ad; kept for 3 months.
• _gcl_au (Google Ads) — identifies your browser to Google Ads, so that a visit that ends in a sign-up can be counted as a result of our ads. Kept for 90 days.
• _gcl_aw (Google Ads) — records the Google ad you clicked to reach us. Set only when you arrive from one of our Google ads; kept for 90 days.

Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd receives what the pixel collects: the pages you visit, these identifiers, the identifier of the ad you clicked and your IP address. Meta and we are joint controllers for collecting that data on our site and sending it to Meta; what Meta does with it afterwards is governed by its own privacy policy: Meta Privacy Policy.

Google Ireland Ltd receives what its conversion tracking collects: the page you are on, these identifiers, the identifier of the Google ad you clicked and your IP address and, when you complete a free-trial sign-up, the fact that a trial has started, with no campaign labels and no details of your account. Google uses this data as a controller in its own right, under its own privacy policy; how it uses information from the sites that use its services is explained in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Meta and Google may transfer the data to the United States, each relying on its certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. This purpose is described in full in our Privacy Policy.

You can withdraw your consent at any time: open “Cookie Settings” at the foot of any page and switch “Marketing” off or, in the Evrella console, open “Cookie preferences” in the account menu and switch “Advertising measurement” off. We then tell Google Tag Manager that marketing consent is withdrawn and delete the _fbp and _fbc cookies from your browser; the Evrella console also deletes Google Ads’ _gcl cookies (such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw), on app.evrella.com and on evrella.com.

6. Third-Party Cookies

When you interact with certain features on our website, third-party services may set their own cookies:

• Our booking system is built in-house and does not set third-party cookies
• Google Analytics, and on evrella.com Microsoft Clarity — as described above, only loaded with your consent
• The Evrella assistant, where a business has embedded it in its own site — see section 7
• Meta and Google — Meta’s pixel and Google Ads’ conversion tracking, described in section 5, only with your consent

7. The Evrella Assistant

Many businesses embed the Evrella chat assistant in their own website, and so do we: puglieseweb.com and evrella.com run the same assistant our clients install. Whether you met the chat window on one of our sites or on a plumber’s, this section is the one that applies to you.

In that situation the business whose website you are visiting decides what the assistant is for and what happens to your conversation: in data protection terms it is the controller, and we act as its processor. Its own privacy notice governs your conversation, and the assistant links to it. Where that business has not published one, the assistant links ours instead, so that you are never left with no notice at all.

The assistant stores the following on your device. All of it is necessary for a chat you chose to open, in the same way a shopping basket is, so it is not subject to consent under PECR regulation 6(4) — but you are entitled to know it is there:

• Your conversation (IndexedDB: pweb-chat) — so that the messages do not vanish if you reload the page or move to another one. It is kept for 24 hours and then discarded, and it is tied to the one business whose assistant you were talking to.
• An anti-abuse pass (sessionStorage) — a short-lived token showing that a check for automated traffic has already been passed, so you are not asked again on every message. It is cleared when you close the tab.

The assistant sets no advertising cookies, does not track you across websites, and is not used to build a profile of you. If you would rather it stored nothing, do not open the chat window: nothing above is written until you do.

If you run a business that embeds the assistant, you must describe the two items above in your own cookie or privacy notice, and set your privacy policy URL in the Evrella console so that the assistant links it rather than ours. What each of us is responsible for is set out in our Data Processing Agreement.

8. Managing Cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences in the following ways:

• Cookie consent banner — when you first visit our site, you can accept or decline analytics cookies and, where the site offers them, marketing cookies. Your choice is remembered for future visits
• Browser settings — most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential storage may affect website functionality
• To reset your cookie preferences, use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any of our sites, or clear your browser’s storage for the site in question.

9. Cookie Consent

In accordance with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we obtain your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device.

Analytics and marketing cookies are not loaded until you click "Accept" on our cookie consent banner, or allow them in the cookie settings. If you click "Decline" or take no action, only essential storage is used.

10. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Know what cookies we use and why
• Opt out of non-essential cookies at any time
• Request deletion of any personal data collected through cookies
