• Amazon FSx (File System for) for Windows: When you need a centralized storage for Windows -based applications, such as SharePoint, Microsoft SQL Server, Workspaces, IIS Web Server, and other native Windows applications. Uses SMB (Server Message Block) network protocol which support DFS (Distributed File Systems).

• Amazon FSx (File System for) for Lustre: When you need a high-performance distributed storage. Used for high perfomance computing (HPC), financial modeling, etc. FSx for Lustre can store data directly on S3.
